Miami is moving on after Cam Ward announced his intention to declare for the NFL Draft.

Former Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson, and former Southern Cal QB Malachi Nelson are in the mix at Miami as the Hurricanes engage other options and pursue remaining quarterbacks in the portal, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.

Jefferson in the last week was linked to UCF, and earlier there were rumors of South Carolina, as Dowell Loggains, a former Arkansas tight ends coach, is the offensive coordinator at South Carolina.

Jefferson owns a slew of school records at Arkansas, and during his 5 years in Fayetteville, he accumulated 7,923 passing yards with 67 passing touchdowns and 18 interceptions, and 21 rushing touchdowns.

Nelson left without collecting a single yard as a Trojan. He threw 3 passes this past season, and only completed one of them for no gain.

He’ll have 4 seasons of eligibility remaining after he redshirted in the the 2023 season.
