Miami will have one of the best defensive backs in the country for the class of 2025 this weekend.

4-star athlete Trey McNutt announced on Thursday that he will be on campus. McNutt is one of the top prospects in the country for the class of 2025, regardless of position.

Here’s his visit announcement:

McNutt is a major target for Miami in the next recruiting cycle. He’s the No. 34 overall prospect and the No. 2 safety in the country for the class of 2025, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 1 player from the state of Ohio.

Although McNutt is a 4-star prospect right now, he could rise to 5-star status in the coming months. During the class of 2024, there were 34 prospects who earned a 5-star classification per 247Sports Composite ratings.

McNutt attends Shaker Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio. He does have an Ohio State offer, so beating out the Buckeyes could prove to be difficult for the Canes. However, getting him on campus this early in the year seems to be a positive sign for Miami’s chances.

Miami currently has 3 commits in the class of 2025. The group sits at No. 20 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
