Cam Hart, a captain for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in 2023, has announced his plan for 2024.

The defensive back has decided to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

Hart redshirted in 2019 and could have used his COVID year to return in 2024. Instead, the defensive back will test the waters in the NFL.

The defensive back released the following statement:

My Notre Dame family,
I am profoundly grateful for the life-shaping brotherhood
I found here. From the first moment on campus, I felt the
power of this special place. I have forged bonds here that I
know will last a lifetime. My teammates, you are my
second family. We have laughed, cried, celebrated and
mourned together. We have lifted each other up during
struggles and have shared countless moments of triumph
as one unit. I cannot adequately express what your
friendship and loyalty has meant to me.

My coaches, your dedication to helping me grow not just
as a player but as a man of character has impacted me
more than you know. I will carry the lessons you have
instilled in me wherever I go. And to the community and
fans who have cheered us on through every victory and
defeat – Your passion and support have fueled and
inspired us. I will never forget the electric feeling in that
stadium, nor the unity and pride that it engenders.

My time here has shaped who I am and given me
confidence to pursue my NFL dreams. As I embark on this
next chapter, I will represent my Notre Dame family with
integrity, grit and humility. Though we may be apart,
Notre Dame will always be my home. Wherever I go and
whatever I do, I will make you proud.
Forever Irish!

Hart will end his career in South Bend with 58 tackles, 17 pass defenses, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 interceptions. The captain will be a big loss for the Irish’s secondary who finished with the No. 4 passing defense in 2023.
