ESPN college football writer Tom VanHaaren believes Notre Dame commit Peyton Bowen could potentially flip on his commitment ahead of the Early Signing Period.

Bowen is Notre Dame’s top committed recruit in the class of 2023. VanHaaren explained why Brown is on flip watch in the days leading up to his commitment decision:

“Bowen, the top recruit in Notre Dame’s class, is a five-star safety from Denton, Texas. He’s the No. 2 safety in the class and has been committed to the Irish since January. Despite the lengthy commitment, he has had Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Oregon after him late in the process. Oklahoma is the program that is mentioned the most with Bowen and could flip him from Notre Dame, but the Irish coaching staff hasn’t given up.”

On Jan. 1, 2022, Bowen committed to Notre Dame and he seemed to be locked in to his commitment. With other schools interested in the 5-star safety from Texas, it could complicate Notre Dame’s chances of landing Bowen.

Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Oregon have shown interest in Bowen. Notre Dame’s coaching staff will need to fight to keep Bowen’s commitment.

Bowen is the No. 14 overall player in the country for the class of 2023, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 2 safety in the country.

The Early Signing Period will start on Wednesday.
