Notre Dame has extended its media rights agreement with NBC.

The two parties announced that news on Saturday afternoon shortly before the Fighting Irish play their final home game of the season against Wake Forest. The new deal with NBC Sports runs through 2029.

“We’ve extended the longest collegiate media partnership through 2029,” Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said in the announcement. “NBC will continue to be the home for Notre Dame football, Notre Dame hockey and all the other programming that we produce.”

Here’s the announcement:

Notre Dame and NBC have worked together on Fighting Irish football broadcasts since 1991. The 2029 football season will be the 39th year of the partnership between the two entities.

Swarbrick has previously stated that Notre Dame extending its contract with NBC would play a pivotal role in whether or not the Fighting Irish would be able to remain independent.

Swarbrick has already announced his intentions to step down as Notre Dame’s athletic director early in 2024. Pete Bevacqua, a former NBC Sports executive, will be stepping into the role.

Financial terms of the agreement are unknown as of publication.
