Notre Dame fell 3 spots in the AP Top 25’s latest update on Tuesday afternoon.

The Fighting Irish fell from No. 5 to No. 8 after their 21-10 defeat in Columbus over the weekend.

Overall, AP voters seemed to give the Irish more credit than the coaches poll did. Notre Dame fell all the way to No. 9 on Tuesday’s edition of the coaches poll.

Notre Dame’s defense exceeded expectations on Saturday night, holding the Buckeyes to just 7 points until the waning moments of the 3rd quarter. However, Notre Dame was unable to respond offensively to a pair of impressive touchdown drives in the second half.

Notre Dame is the only team in the top 10 to suffer a loss in Week 1. Utah fell to No. 13 after losing a heartbreaker at Florida.

The Irish have now been ranked in the top 10 for 9 consecutive AP polls, dating back to Oct. 31, 2021.
