Notre Dame fell 4 spots in the updated coaches poll on Tuesday afternoon.

The updated poll has Notre Dame at No. 9 after the Irish debuted at No. 5 in the preseason.

It’s a sizable jump for a team that largely impressed on the road at Ohio State with a first-time head coach and quarterback leading the way.

However, other teams also suffered big drops. Utah fell 7 spots after losing a heartbreaker to Florida in Gainesville. Oregon dropped 12 places after getting blown out by Georgia in Atlanta.

Notre Dame held strong at No. 6 in ESPN’s updated power rankings.

The Fighting Irish are the only team in the top 10 of the coaches poll to already have a loss this season.
