Notre Dame added another major transfer to its 2024 roster on Wednesday.

The Fighting Irish landed a commitment from ex-Duke defensive lineman RJ Oben. He joins teammate Riley Leonard as former Duke players who have committed to Notre Dame this week.

Oben visited Notre Dame this week along with a couple of Notre Dame’s other top targets in the portal.

Oben is widely-regarded as one of the top edge rushers in the transfer portal this cycle. He has collected at least 5.5 tackles for loss and at least 4 sacks in each of his previous three seasons.

The 2024 campaign with be Oben’s sixth year of college football. He’s been a strong contributor for Duke’s defense since the 2021 season. Oben has 18.5 tackles for loss and 13.5 sacks in his collegiate career.

Notre Dame has been very active in the transfer portal so far this offseason. The Fighting Irish have already landed commitments from highly-touted players such as Leonard, Kris Mitchell and Beaux Collins. The Irish’s transfer class currently ranks No. 2 nationally, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.
