Riley Leonard has officially revealed his long-reported transfer destination.

On Tuesday morning, Leonard dropped a video on Instagram with views of the star quarterback checking out Notre Dame Stadium. He tagged the video with “A dream come true. Go Irish,” as a major addition for Marcus Freeman’s program heading into 2024.

Leonard began his career at Duke as a 3-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class. After seeing some action as a true freshman, he burst onto the national scene a year ago with 33 total touchdowns for the Blue Devils.

Expectations were high for Leonard heading into 2023, but injuries took their toll on the QB and the team. After the end of the season and Mike Elko’s departure for Texas A&M, Leonard opted for the transfer portal.

It did not take long for Notre Dame to surface as the favorite for Leonard’s transfer commitment. Marcus Freeman’s squad utilized the portal to grab Sam Hartman last season, and that move paid off once again.

Though a more experienced player than Leonard, Hartman completed 63.5% of his passes with nearly 2,700 yards and 27 total touchdowns for the Fighting Irish in 2023. With his college eligibility up at the end of the season, the Irish went and grabbed Leonard for the 2024 season.

Across 3 seasons at Duke, Leonard completed 61.7% of his passes for 4,450 yards and 24 passing touchdowns. He also has over 1,200 rushing yards and 19 rushing touchdowns in his career.
