Damar Hamlin still faces a long recovery, a family spokesman told the Associated Press.

The Bills safety still faces a lengthy rehabilitation some 3 weeks after he went into cardiac arrest and was resuscitated on the field during a game in Cincinnati, his marketing representative said.

“Damar still requires oxygen and is having his heart monitored regularly to ensure there are no setbacks or after effects,” Jordon Rooney said. “Though he is able to visit the team’s facility, Damar is not in position to travel often, and requires additional rest to help his body heal.”

Hamlin, the former Pitt Panther, in recent weeks has met with teammates and visited the Bills facility as the team prepared for games against the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins. Buffalo plays host to the Cincinnati Bengals this week in a divisional round playoff game. Hamlin live-tweeted the Patriots game, and openly shares updates on Bills developments on social media.

Rooney emphasized that Hamlin still faces hurdles since being discharged from Buffalo General Medical Center on Jan. 11. Hamlin’s release came 5 days after his doctors said the player was breathing on his own, walking, talking and showing no signs of neurological damage.
