Garrett Shrader is ready to go to war with Florida State, insisting that Syracuse need a strong start to the game.

Shrader was interviewed Tuesday and emphasized how important it is that the Orange start hot. Syracuse was stifled on offense against North Carolina, not scoring until the second half.

“I don’t think preparation is as much of an issue. We feel like we’re pretty prepared going into every week, so the big thing is just coming out and starting hot, making plays and executing,” said Shrader. “That’s what it comes down to. If we do that we can go out and put ourselves in position to get a win.”

Beating Florida State will be no easy task for Syracuse. The last time the Orange beat the Seminoles was in 2018.

The thing that stands out for Shrader about Florida State is the experience of the team as a whole.

“I mean they’ve got a talented group. They’re an older squad. It’s their third year in this program, this system,” said Shrader. “We’ve just gotta try and go out and attack them. We’ve done some good stuff so far, so we’ll be excited to continue to work on that, rep that and we’ll be ready to go.”

Syracuse and Florida State meet at noon ET on ABC.
