Garrett Williams made it official with the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday per ProFootballTalk’s Charean Williams. Williams was taken in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Williams played college football at Syracuse from 2019-2022. He played in 28 games during that time. In Williams’ last season with the Orange he accounted for 36 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 2 interceptions.

Unfortunately, Williams’ year was cut short after a season-ending injury against Notre Dame. Despite his injury Williams still finished second on the team in interceptions.

The rookie deal will be for four years.

Syracuse faced Minnesota in the Pinstripe Bowl after a 7-5 finish to the regular season. The Orange went on to lose 28-20 to the Golden Gophers.

A new head coach will be running the show in Arizona. Former Philadelphia Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon will be entering into his first year with the team in 2023.

Arizona fired Kliff Kingsbury after the Cardinals won just four games in 2022.

The only player that has not been signed from the 2023 NFL Draft is former LSU LB B.J. Ojulari. Former Ohio State OT Paris Johnson Jr. and Ojulari were the first two picks made by Arizona in this year’s draft.

Williams is expected to return in July. The Cardinals open the 2023 season against the Washington Commanders on Sept. 10.
