Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal as soon as it opened on December 4.

The Ohio State QB had a good season in Columbus during his first year as a starter, but still struggled compared to past QBs such as CJ Stroud and Justin Fields. McCord isn’t very mobile, a stark contrast from the prior 2 QBs aforementioned.

Early Sunday morning reports started trickling in that McCord is expected to announce his commitment to Syracuse as soon as Sunday:

McCord is a former 5-star prospect and beat out Devin Brown for the starting job this offseason, as many expected. He protected the ball well and was efficient with his throws, but he was rarely explosive and couldn’t quite lift the Ohio State offense to a truly elite level.

But that doesn’t mean he’s not a great pickup for the Orange. McCord has a good deep ball and finished his first year as a starter having thrown for 3,170 yards, 24 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He completed just under 66% of his passes to one of the better wide receiver corps in the nation.
