Virginia Tech pulled off the upset against North Carolina in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Friday night.

The Hokies will now face Duke for the ACC crown on Saturday evening. Virginia Tech has never played for an ACC title before.

Darius Maddox led the way with 20 points off the bench. He also grabbed 6 rebounds. Keve Aluma contributed 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

As a team, Virginia Tech shot 43.9 percent from the field. Defensively, it held a potent North Carolina team to just 36.7 percent shooting. Armando Bacot had 19 points and 10 rebounds, but his teammates struggled to get it going offensively.

Virginia Tech entered this week on the NCAA Tournament bubble, but picking up wins over North Carolina and Notre Dame this week should help its case significantly. The Hokies were No. 33 in NET prior to beating the Tar Heels and could move up substantially on Saturday morning.

Virginia Tech played Duke once this season and lost 76-65 in Durham back on Dec. 22.

Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday.
