Notre Dame 5-star commit Peyton Bowen may not be with the Fighting Irish for much longer.

Bowen took an official visit to Oregon over the weekend and still has multiple trips planned before he finalizes his recruitment. The Denton, Texas, native has been committed to Notre Dame since Jan. 1.

On3’s Sam Spiegelman spoke with Bowen this week and believes things are trending in the wrong direction for Notre Dame.

“At this stage, it feels like this is not going to end well for Notre Dame,” Spiegelman said. “There are too many contenders making really adamant pushes for him. Schools that are impressing around the country on the field … This is a recruitment that still has some twists and turns I think before it’s all said and done.”

Spiegelman added he believes Oklahoma is currently the favorite land Bowen, although Texas A&M is also in the mix. Both programs are significantly closer to the Denton, Texas, native. To add another complication, Bowen is considering a visit to Michigan before making his final decision, per the report.

Losing Bowen would be a huge blow to Notre Dame’s 2023 recruiting class. He’s Notre Dame’s top-ranked commit and has been with the Irish for nearly 11 months.

Bowen’s final decision is likely to come over the next few weeks. The Early Signing Period begins in December.
