Pitt picked up a major commitment through the transfer portal on Sunday afternoon.

Former Akron receiver Konata Mumpfield picked the Panthers after entering the transfer portal last month. Here’s his announcement:

Mumpfield was one of the most underrated receivers in the country this season. As a freshman for the Zips, he caught 63 passes for 751 yards and 8 touchdown.

Mumpfield flew under the radar as a high school prospect. He was the No. 2,675 overall player in the class of 2020, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

He will join Biletnikoff Award-winner Jordan Addison in Pitt’s receiving corps next season. Mumpfield and Addison will have the potential to be the best receiving tandem in the ACC in 2022.

The Panthers have also added USC transfer quarterback Kedon Slovis in the portal this offseason in an effort to replace Kenny Pickett. Slovis has 58 career touchdown passes in three seasons with the Trojans.
