Pitt is renewing a series with a former Big East foe.

UConn announced a home-and-home series with the Panthers on Thursday. Pitt will host the game on Oct. 30, 2027. The Panthers will travel to UConn for the return game on Nov. 4, 2028.

The schools met as Big East members 9 times from 2004-to-2012. UConn has a 5-4 advantage in the series, winning 24-17 in 2012. The Panthers’ last win in the series came at home in 2011, a 35-20 victory.

Pitt joined the ACC in 2013. UConn was a member of the American Athletic Conference from 2013-to-2019. The program then left to become independent in football, while maintaining Big East membership as its primary conference in other sports.

UConn’s last winning season came in 2010 when the Huskies managed an 8-5 record during Randy Edsall’s first stint. Edsall’s second stint with the Huskies from 2017-to-2021 was a disaster, resulting in a 6-32 mark at the time of his firing.

In 2020, UConn canceled its season. The program went just 1-11 in 2021, but showed marked improvement under Jim Mora in 2022, reaching a bowl game and finishing 6-7.
