West Virginia’s Beanie Bishop didn’t sugar-coat things after the Mountaineers’ 17-6 win over Pitt on Saturday.

In his postgame press conference, Bishop told reporters that WVU’s defense knew what to expect when it faced Pitt quarterback Phil Jurkovec.

“We knew coming into the game that their quarterback … he wasn’t that good at his job or whatever.”

Here’s video of the comment:

Bishop finished the game with 7 tackles and 1 interception.

Jurkovec really struggled on Saturday vs. the Mountaineers. He went 8-for-20 for 81 yards, 0 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Jurkovec is off to a very rough start in his first season in Pittsburgh. He’s now put together back-to-back games with a completion percentage under 50%.

He currently ranks dead last in the ACC with a quarterback efficiency rating of 109.36. No other qualified ACC quarterback has a rating below 120. Jurkovec is averaging 6.3 yards per attempt this season and has thrown 4 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

This was West Virginia’s first win over Pitt since 2011. The teams did not meet between 2012 and 2021 due to conference realignment. The Panthers won last year’s meeting, 38-31.

Pitt will host North Carolina in Week 4.
